Why the first session costs more
The intake session is 60 minutes rather than 50, and it's where I do work you don't see — reviewing your completed intake forms before we meet, writing a clinical formulation afterward, and drafting an initial treatment plan. Clients in this practice expect to pay more upfront in exchange for thoughtful direction-setting, not a generic first session that feels indistinguishable from any other.
Payment
A card on file is required at intake. Sessions are charged to your card automatically on the day of the session. I accept all major credit and debit cards, HSA, and FSA cards. Receipts are available through your client portal.
Insurance
Vitara Therapy is primarily a cash-pay practice. I maintain a small presence on one strategic insurance panel, with the insurance caseload capped to protect availability. If you'd like to use insurance, please ask during your free consultation whether your plan is one I'm in-network with.
Out-of-network reimbursement
For clients who are out-of-network, I provide superbills (detailed receipts) upon request. Many PPO plans reimburse a portion of out-of-network mental health care once an annual deductible is met. To find out what your plan covers, call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
Questions to ask your insurer
— Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
— What is my annual out-of-network deductible, and how much has been met?
— What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed once the deductible is met?
— Are there session limits per year?
— Do I need pre-authorization for outpatient mental health services?
Good Faith Estimate
Under federal law (the No Surprises Act), you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before beginning services. I provide one at intake and any time fees change. You can read more about your rights on the Good Faith Estimate page.
Time is the practice's primary resource.
I ask for 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee. Full policy details, including emergency exceptions, are on the Cancellation Policy page.
